Tita Questions

As we get older, the topics that our elders ask us evolve as well:

From

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

to

“Where do you work?”

to the dreaded

“Are you already married?” or “When will you get married?”

OR

“Do you have a girlfriend?” or “When will you get a girlfriend?” or “Don’t you have plans to have a girlfriend?”

The irony is that they will be the same people who will lecture you about not rushing into love. Love is a the most complicated shit anyone can get into, whether you’re lucky enough to find the perfect one or not. You’re betting the rest of your life with/to another person’s unpredictable future: unpredictable changes, habits, quirks…everything!

My general answer to the “Tita questions” is this:

Love is a complicated thing. Getting a girlfriend is like interviewing an applicant that seems to have potential for a job (no pervy-pun intended). An applicant might have good grades but end up a terrible employee or vice-versa. This is the other main point of my answer: THERE IS A JOB OPENING. If you—whoever you are—applies today, the work conditions would be terrible, but we (referring to the entities that reside in my crazy mind) are working to make the “work environment” more “conducive”. Sure, anyone (female applicants only!!!) can apply, but as of the moment I can’t guarantee that the employee would enjoy her stay. Our “administration” is constantly working on getting benefits, perks, signing bonuses, company car *wink wink*, and other privileges for the future employee. But until the “renovations” are completed, we won’t be posting our job ads anywhere. You can always contact our HR Dept at 0998XXXXXXX.

There you have it. I’m thinking this through, veeery carefully. Mind your own business. We all have better things to do than poke around on everyone else’s life.
